Arrangements that you don’t need to record Arrangements that you must record

For candidates sitting Entry Level qualifications, you don’t need approval from us, or evidence of need, for any access arrangements. However for some measures you will need to record details of the arrangements.

Arrangements that you don’t need to record

For the following arrangements, you don’t need to record details or provide evidence of need: 

  • Amplification equipment, taped questions and responses
  • Bilingual dictionary 
  • Braille transcripts
  • Braillers 
  • Brailling of non-secure assessment material
  • Closed circuit television (CCTV) 
  • Colour naming by the invigilator for candidates who are colour blind 
  • Coloured overlays
  • Communication professional for candidates using sign language, for written questions and responses (but not in MRL oral examinations)
  • Enlarging or photocopying the question paper on to coloured paper
  • Live speaker for pre-recorded examination components
  • Low vision aid/magnifier 
  • Optical character reader (OCR) scanners 
  • Prompter 
  • Read aloud 
  • Reading pen/Exam pen
  • Separate invigilation within the centre 
  • Supervised rest breaks 
  • Word processor

Arrangements that you must record

For the following arrangements, you don’t need to contact us, but you need to record details.

  • Bilingual dictionary with 10% extra time (for the use of the dictionary)
  • Computer reader/reader
  • Extra time in timed components 
  • Practical assistant
  • Scribe

You must complete an OCR centre permitted arrangements form detailing the names and numbers of candidates granted these arrangements. You need to keep this form on file for inspection by us.
