As well as students’ grades and marks, there are a number of symbols that might appear in the EDI and XML results files and results reports we issue for general qualifications and Cambridge Nationals – we call these ‘results indicators’.
X – No result
You’ll see an ‘X’ within Interchange and Active Results. This will show as ‘No Result’ on statements of results. This may be because:
- The candidate was absent from all components or units of a qualification
- The student was absent from an exam
- The student did not submit any work for their non-exam assessment or coursework
- There was an incorrect combination of units for certification (unitised qualifications only)
- A candidate has been issued with more than one UCI (unitised qualifications only)
- A script was not available to be marked.
# – Partial absence
This indicator may be shown next to a grade if the candidate submitted work for some, but not all, of the subject’s components or units.
Q – Pending
If the result is showing as ‘Q’, a result is 'pending' or is currently unavailable. In each instance we should have contacted your centre beforehand to explain why the result is pending. If you have not received any communication from us, please speak to your Head of Centre who should have more information.
If the candidate has a ‘Q’ in the EDI and XML files or Active Results, please be aware these are snapshots of data and we may have been able to finalise the grade after the data was compiled. Please check the results section on Interchange for the latest results information.
