The Designing and Making Innovation Challenges, for GCSE Design and Technology (Unit A552) and AS/A Level Design and Technology (Unit F521), are teacher-led externally examined units, which are primarily designed to take place in a design room, studio or workshop rather than an exam hall.
Centres can apply additional time to a candidate at their discretion and allocate up to 90 minutes.
Candidates work at different rates on different activities, so we don't provide guidance on how to allocate the extra time throughout the Innovation Challenge. However, you may find the following hints and tips useful:
