Grade submission system

Quick Links

  • Additional assessment materials

Downloading additional assessment materials

All user roles for the Grade Submission System can view and download the additional assessment materials. If you need access to the Grade Submission System, please speak to your 'Centre Admin' (usually your exams officer).

Accessing the additional assessment materials

Log in to the Grade Submission System with your email address and password.

Please use the most up-to-date version of your web browser. Supported browsers are Chrome, Firefox, Edge and Safari on desktops and laptops. Mobile and tablet devices are not supported.

When you log in, you will see the following screen. Click ‘Start’ in the ‘Download Additional Assessment Material’ box.

AAM_GSS_decision

You will see the qualification groups (AS and A Level, Core Maths, FSMQ; GCSE; Cambridge Nationals; Cambridge Technicals) and guidance on using the additional assessment material.

Please download the guidance first as this will help you use the materials successfully.

AAM_Qual_groups

Choose a qualification group to see a list of specifications and then click on a specification to view the units/components that have additional assessment materials.

For specifications with large numbers of units, such as A Level History, each specification is split into groups of units/components to make the materials easier to view.

Click ‘See files’ for each unit/component to see a list of the available files.

Additional assessment material files

The file names are presented as level, subject, entry code and then a description of the material type, which may include the following abbreviations:

  • QS – question set
  • QMS – questions and mark scheme.

The first file is a mapping grid, which maps coverage of assessment objectives, content and/or skills covered within each question set and shows where the questions were taken from. This is the key document in supporting you to use the additional assessment materials successfully.

There is also a subject-specific guidance document which explains how to use the mapping information and mark schemes and provides ideas for using the question sets in each subject.

All the question sets are provided as both PDFs and Microsoft Word documents.

You can either download the files you want using the mapping grid as a reference or you can use the search function to find specific topics of interest.

AAM_unit/component page

Using the search

Type any word or phrase into the search bar and click the search button. The search will return results for that unit/component in the following order:

  • exact matches
  • matches for the words in any order
  • matches for each word separately
  • a ‘fuzzy match’ – results containing the first four letters of the first term.

Downloading files

Click on the ‘Download’ button to download each file. How the files download will depend on the browser you are using and your download settings.

Please be aware that the Grade Submission System will time out after ten minutes of inactivity from the site.

We’ll also be publishing performance data and marking exemplars across a wide range of subjects and grading exemplars (student responses from historical exam papers) to help you determine grades. See our news story for more details.
