Students at schools and colleges in the West Midlands who have been offered places at Cambridge University can apply for an OCR bursary. But act fast – the deadline for applications is Friday 15 June.
OCR’s bursary scheme, which springs from the historical association between OCR and the West Midlands exam board, provides financial relief to students for the lifetime of their undergraduate studies at Cambridge.
Past recipients of the bursary have been able to focus on their studies and extra curricular activities with less financial worries for them and their parents or guardians.
For the academic year 2012/2013, a bursary of £3,000 per annum will be awarded for the lifetime of an undergraduate degree course, to up to ten first year students studying at Cambridge University.
One of last year's recipients, Maryam Farooq, applied successfully from Birmingham Metropolitan College. She commented: "As a mature student entering university, finances were naturally one of my first worries. This bursary has helped relieve me of a huge burden."
