For general qualifications marks for internally assessed work must be submitted to OCR and to our moderators by the published deadlines, as moderation cannot begin until the marks have been processed. Failure to meet the deadline could lead to a delay in the issue of results. Please refer to the key dates documents.
We have produced the following guidance to assist you in the administration of internal assessment. We hope you find it useful.
From the January 2011 series, sample requests for moderation will be requested by email and moderator reports will be available on results day via Interchange for most units/components. The following document lists the exceptions:
Each candidate is required to sign a declaration before submitting their work to the teacher, confirming the work is their own. The completed form should then be retained in the centre and not sent to the moderator or to OCR unless requested. A sample can be downloaded here:
Centres should record marks of zero if candidates cannot confirm the authenticity of their work.
Teachers are then required to declare that the work is the candidates' own by returning a centre authentication form (CCS160) for each unit or component. The form is available below:
This must accompany the Internal Assessment Mark Sheet (MS1) when it is sent to the moderator.
Failure to authenticate the work of any candidate or to provide evidence of authentication will result in OCR setting the mark for that candidate to Pending (Q) for that component until authentication can be provided.
If your centre demonstrates accurate marking of internally assessed units, it may be offered accredited status (by specification and level). This means that there is no requirement to submit work for moderation for those specifications.
The standard accreditation period lasts for the remainder of the academic year in which it is granted and the following two academic years. You will be informed of any changes to your accreditation status before each series.
Centres must have work available in case they receive requests for work required for awarding purposes.
