    Moderation cannot begin until marks have been processed. So do make sure all work is submitted by the published deadlines to avoid delays in the issue of results.

    • Authentication of candidate work

      • Each candidate is required to sign a declaration before submitting their work to confirm the work is their own. The completed form should then be retained in the centre and not sent to us or the moderator unless requested (Until authentication can be provided we will mark the work Pending (Q)). A sample can be downloaded here:

    • Centre accreditation (Applied GCE only)

      • If your centre demonstrates accurate marking of internally assessed units it may be offered accredited status (by specification and level). This means that there is no requirement to submit work for moderation for those specifications.

        The standard accreditation period lasts for the remainder of the academic year in which it is granted and the following two academic years. You will be informed of any changes to your accreditation status before each series. Centres must have work available in case they receive requests for work required for awarding purposes.

    • General assessment
      • Access arrangements

        Access arrangements and reasonable adjustments can only be requested by the exams officer at the centre of entry.

        The nature of the arrangement required will depend on the learner’s individual needs. Any arrangements put in place for the exam must reflect their normal way of working.

        Most applications can be submitted on the Access Arrangements Online (AAO) site on Interchange. Modified papers must also be ordered via AAO for general qualifications.

    • Special consideration
      • Special consideration can be applied for in cases where the learner has been fully prepared for the examination but their performance or attendance has been affected by factors beyond their control, such as ill health or a family crisis.

        For timetabled exams for general qualifications please apply via the Special Consideration Online portal on Interchange.

        For vocational qualifications, or for coursework, controlled, practical or oral assessments please send a JCQ Form 10 within seven days to the Special Requirements Team at the address above.
