Current specification for Media Studies.

This specification offers both a theoretical and practical approach to media studies and new media. Candidates explore textual analysis, media industries, evaluation of production work and critical perspectives.

  • It's up to the minute - this new specification is based on recent consultation with industry media experts
  • There are now four units instead of six. Two are coursework based, two examinable units of two hours each with no word limits on the production work
  • Candidates are able to explore textual analysis, media industries, evaluation of production work and critical perspectives.

  • Foundation Portfolio
  • Key Media Concepts (either radio drama or television drama)
  • Advanced Portfolio
  • Critical Perspectives

How will this qualification be assessed?

  • 50% internally assessed coursework and 50% externally assessed examinations.

Examination sessions are held in January and June for all four units.
