Ofqual previously confirmed changes to be made to all GCSEs offered by all awarding bodies in England for teaching from September 2012. We are currently removing outdated specifications from the OCR website.
All teachers delivering OCR GCSEs should now be using the specifications marked as ‘from 2012’ after the subject e.g. for GCSE ‘Computing – J275 (from 2012)’.
Note: Past papers, mark schemes and examiner reports for outdated specifications are still available on the 'from 2012' version of the qualification and our past papers material finder.
Further details of the content, timetable and assessment of new GCSEs and A Levels for 2015 and 2016 have been announced by the Department for Education and by the exams regulator Ofqual.
We have produced a summary of the latest changes, including a timeline of what’s happening when.
GCSEs are offered across Levels 1 and 2 of the National Qualifications Framework (NQF) and they are primarily targeted at secondary school pupils, but are also suitable for adult returners.
GCSEs are assessed depending upon the subject being studied but normally include a mixture of OCR-moderated coursework and OCR-set and marked external assessment.
