As previously shared, following the DfE’s review of ICT Technical Awards OCR were asked to make some changes to the Cambridge National Certificate in ICT, prior to inclusion in the 2019 KS4 performance tables.
We took this opportunity to consult widely with schools, employers and other qualification users, to ensure that our Cambridge National would continue to meet your and your students’ needs, ready for September 2017 teaching.
The overwhelming outcome of this consultation was that we should bring forward redevelopment plans and launch our brand new qualification, aligning it to the latest Key Stage 4 Curriculum and innovative use of technology to best equip your students for their future.

The DfE are now reviewing our draft materials for the 2019 KS4 performance tables. We will keep you updated on the progress of this review; we expect to hear back from the DfE in May.
The current Cambridge National Certificate in ICT continues to be eligible for reporting on the DfE’s 2018 KS4 performance tables.
This is a vocationally-related qualification that takes an engaging, practical and inspiring approach to learning and assessment. The everyday use of ICT, from PCs to smartphones, now impacts all of our lives. This new Cambridge Nationals in ICT reflects this and provides students with a solid understanding of the subject which they can use in their working lives. Three themes are covered: business information systems, creative and technical.
