The final assessment opportunity for this qualification will be June 2018. There will be no resit opportunity available. The last year 10 cohort start date will be September 2016. The qualification is no longer included on KS4 performance tables.
Our Science provision is changing as part of the government reform of vocational and general qualifications. Cambridge Nationals in Science and Science in the Workplace no longer carry performance points, so OCR has made the difficult decision to not continue these qualifications following final assessment in summer 2018.
Alternative provision is available in the form of our new GCSE (9-1) Gateway Science and Twenty First Century Science suites, which have been redeveloped for first teaching from September 2016. The new suites (from 2016) each contain separate Biology, Chemistry and Physics specifications and a Combined Science (Double Award) specification.
This is a vocationally-related qualification that takes an engaging, practical and inspiring approach to learning and assessment. The Cambridge Nationals in Science will equip students with sound, specialist scientific knowledge and skills for everyday use. This qualification allows students to explore the way in which people use science in their work.
