      • GCSE History changes from September 2013 - Important re-accreditation update

        • Last year all awarding bodies were asked to strengthen their GCSE History qualifications for first teaching from September 2013.

          We are continuing to work with Ofqual to develop both our GCSE History A - Schools History Project and History B - Modern World specifications.

          We’ll publish details of the changes, revised specifications and new specimen assessment materials (SAMs) as soon as we have accreditation from Ofqual.

          In the meantime, we want to share with centres details of our proposed changes for GCSE History A and History B.

          However we must emphasise that until the specifications are accredited, these proposals are provisional. Read further details.

          To keep up to date on the accreditation developments you can sign up for email updates.

    Our new specification builds upon the successful and popular Schools History Project approach which looks at history in a number of different ways. As well as thinking about history differently, learners also have the opportunity to investigate a local historical site, which encourages them to put real history into context.
