Overview

OCR Nationals are work-related qualifications available at Levels 1 to 3 of the National Qualifications Framework.

All OCR Nationals also help students develop their personal skills in areas applicable to any workplace, such as team working, communication and problem solving. The courses have been designed to accredit learners' achievements and ability to carry out tasks in a way that is relevant to the workplace.

They are principally aimed at 16-19 year olds who want to develop skills, knowledge and understanding from relevant work experience. They are also suitable for people aged 14-16, and for adult learners, part-time or full-time.

OCR Nationals are recognised by employers and at Level 3 attract UCAS points. They are an excellent alternative to GCSEs, GNVQs and A levels as they focus on building work-related skills.

Good for students

Students can learn at their own pace, and learn by applying theory. There are no exams and students are assessed at their own learning centre. Real workplace knowledge is a stepping stone to real work, and students can gain this insight without restricting their future options.

Good for teachers

Units are assessed by you, at a time to suit you and the learner, and are externally moderated. You can incorporate work experience, use your own assignments or OCR approved ones, and delivers unit in any order. There is comprehensive support available including two free moderation visits a year.
