At all levels they give learners an opportunity to develop communication, planning, time management, research and independent working skills that will be relevant whether they continue in education or if they choose to go into employment. At Level 1, the OCR Project is the same size as a GCSE Short Course and attracts the same points for achievement and attainment as a GCSE Short Course grades D-G.
Level 2 is the same size and attracts the same achievement and attainment points as a GCSE Short Course at grades A*-C.
The OCR Extended Project attracts a maximum of 60 UCAS points, the same as an AS/A Level GCE. In the Achievement and Attainment tables it attracts a maximum of 90 points, slightly fewer than an AS/A Level GCE. Universities are showing a keen interest in the Extended Project. They see it as providing learners with an opportunity to develop a range of skills that will serve them well on many undergraduate programmes. There are indications that students who perform well on their Extended Project are likely to be looked upon favourably by universities.
Extended Project can be taught alongside AS/A Level GCEs and as it offers UCAS points it is extremely relevant for learners.
