Overview

OCR has been at the forefront of developing functional skills assessments. This experience, backed up by extensive research and evaluation from our three year pilot, has given us a unique insight into what functionality means to assessment design. We would like to thank the dedication and commitment of the 1,700 schools, colleges and learning providers who have made all this possible.

This qualification contains one mandatory unit.

Assessment and grading

This qualification is externally set by OCR and externally assessed by OCR Examiners. Units will be graded Pass or Fail.

Target market

The OCR Functional Skills qualification in Maths level 1 is suitable for both young people and mature learners who wish to be recognised for their achievement of a wide range of mathematical skills for use in every day life. The qualification is also suitable for those preparing for level 2 Functional Skills Maths qualifications.

Apprenticeships and Advanced Apprenticeships

The following qualification can be used as the functional skills component for all Apprenticeship/Advanced Apprenticeship frameworks in England.

Centres in Wales will need to use Essential Skills Wales. Please see relevant frameworks for level/combination required.

This qualification can be used as a component for any Foundation Learning programme.
