GCSE (from 2010)Mathematics B - J567

GCSE 2010 Maths explained

There are four key changes to GCSE Mathematics:

  • Meets the new Key Stage 4 programme of study
  • New subject criteria with new Assessment Objectives – These emphasise mathematical processes, not just content.
  • The functional elements of mathematics will be addressed.
  • The introduction of a 'linked pair' GCSE Mathematics pilot.

The linked pair GCSE Mathematics pilot introduces two new qualifications, called Methods in Mathematics and Applications of Mathematics. During the pilot, the pair will together cover the entire programme of study. Each will be distinctive and between them they will contain some additional content beyond the new single GCSE.
