Terminal rules

For candidates certificating in 2014, we are awaiting confirmation as to the arrangements regarding terminal rules. We know this may have implications for schools and colleges taking GCSEs over 3 years who may want their candidates to take units in January 2012.

We will notify schools about the rules that will apply as soon as Ofqual provides confirmation. In the meantime, if your candidates are commencing 3 year courses, there is a possibility that unit exams taken in January 2012 may not count towards a GCSE being certificated.
