GCSE changes from September 2012
The government has now confirmed that unitised GCSEs, will be replaced by linear assessment for all candidates starting a two-year course from September 2012. You can find out more about the changes here on the GCSE (from 2012) page.

GCSE Science A has an emphasis on scientific literacy – the knowledge and understanding that learners need to recognise the impact of science and technology on everyday life. There are two alternative routes to achieve GCSE Science A: Route 1 using Unit 1 from each of Biology A, Chemistry A and Physics A (separate science papers); or, Route 2 using Units 1, 2 and 3 of Science A (mixed science papers).
