OCR is currently working on the development of a range of GCSEs for first teaching from September 2017.
Draft qualifications have not yet been accredited by Ofqual. They are published (along with specimen assessment materials, summary brochures and sample resources) to enable teachers to have early sight of our proposed approach.
Further changes may be required to draft qualifications and no assurance can be given at this time that the proposed qualifications will be made available in their current form, or that they will be accredited in time for first teaching in 2017 and first award in 2019 (2018 for AS Level qualifications).
The reformed GCSEs will be linear with assessment at the end of the two-year course.
Ofqual has confirmed that only certain reformed GCSEs will be tiered. GCSE maths and science will be tiered.
Find out more about the new GCSE grading scale 9-1 by visiting the Ofqual website.
Ofqual’s grade descriptors for GCSEs graded 9-1 have been released for all subjects accredited for first teach in September 2015 and September 2016.
