The registration fee entitles you to two visits each academic year for a subject, one in each moderation window.
Teachers must request the date and the format of moderation (visit or virtual visit) via the Cambridge OCR Moderation Service, which is accessed via My Cambridge. You will be able to access the Moderation Service to submit your request from 5 January 2026.
For the first year, the deadline for moderation window 1 is in January, in subsequent years, the deadline will be the NEA unit entry deadline in November (see the key dates).
You need to decide whether you would prefer a virtual or a face-to-face in-centre moderation visit when you submit your visit request:
For both virtual and face-to-face visits, you need to upload your sample before the visit.
When you have submitted your visit request with your preferred dates, your moderator will contact you to agree a mutually convenient date for your visit.
If you wish to change the type or timing of your visit, please get in touch with your moderator.
We will try to change your visit where possible but please note that it is usually easier to delay a visit rather than bring it forward.
It may not always be possible to change from a virtual visit to a face-to-face in-centre visit as this will depend on the availability of a moderator in your area.
Each moderation visit can be for multiple units. If moderation cannot be completed in a single day due to the number of units which need to be moderated, your moderator will extend the visit to a second day. This will still be classed as a single visit.
If you wish to have additional moderation visits, these can be requested for a fee. When requesting additional visits for a window, if you have already had a moderation visit in that window, it must be for different units. For example, you cannot submit some students for moderation for a unit early in window 2 and then a different group of candidates for moderation for that same unit later in that same window.
Additional moderation visits must take place within the two moderation windows – it is not possible to have additional visits once moderation window 2 has closed.
If centres are working together in a consortium, i.e. in cases where all candidates from different centres have been taught and are assessed together, but where they are entered through the centre at which they are on roll, each consortium is entitled to two free visits per subject per academic year. If you require additional moderation visits for centres within the consortium, please see instructions above regarding requesting additional visits and fees.
You must complete the JCQ centre consortium arrangements form each series. The form is available within the JCQ Centre Admin Portal (CAP) – from the Forms section, select ‘Centre consortium arrangements’. You can access the JCQ Centre Admin Portal from Interchange.
