A Level Specification Creator

      Share

OCR's A Level Specification Creator provides you with confirmation that the OCR A Level History (H505) units you have chosen to teach constitutes a valid course. It also helps us support the delivery of your chosen units. It is not necessary to use Specification Creator to confirm your AS choices.

Please note that you will need to use Specification Creator every year before starting to teach your History A Level, even if you have not changed your unit choices.

If you have multiple classes taking different options from any given unit group, you must use Specification Creator to confirm that every route through the A Level that your centre plans to offer is valid.

      Reminder of unit combination rules

      • The combination of units chosen must meet the '200 year rule' as required by the subject criteria. This means that the earliest date studied in any unit group must be separated by at least 200 years from the latest date studied in any unit group.
      • In order to ensure breadth, certain other restrictions beyond the 200 year rule apply. The following unit combinations are prohibited:
      Unit A Unit B
Y101 Alfred and the Making of England 871-1016 Y302 The Viking Age c.790-1066
