Following the request from the regulator to all awarding organisations to strengthen their GCSE History specifications, we have worked with Ofqual to develop both our GCSE History A - Schools History Project and History B - Modern World specifications, which have now been accredited for first teaching in September 2013 (first certification in 2015).
The accredited specifications and specimen assessment materials are now available to download below.
The newly accredited specifications include some changes. For controlled assessment the use of compulsory coursework consultancy will now be required for both specifications. You can find further details on this and the new forms for submitting information to the consultancy service within each specification.
Our aim is to help you at every stage and we want to reassure you that we’ll continue to support you as you move into delivery of the specification. To keep up to date on when our new support resources become available sign up for our History email updates.
These qualifications have now ended. The full course GCSE (J417) was succeeded by History B: Modern World - J418 (from 2013).
This qualification focuses on the turbulent history of the twentieth century, its key events, people, changes and issues. Viewing history from both a national and global perspective, students will learn about international relations, global conflict and the political development of key countries, and take a detailed look at changes in British society.
