The JCQ Access Arrangements Online portal has been extended to enable you to submit transferred candidate requests. The Centre Admin Portal (CAP) can be accessed via the access arrangements link within Interchange. For more information about the CAP, see the JCQ website.

What is a transferred candidate?

This is where a candidate transfers from one registered centre to another JCQ-registered centre after the submission of examination entries.

The candidate’s entry remains with the school or college that entered them and the candidate remains their responsibility.

The candidate retains their original candidate number and unique candidate identifier (UCI) throughout the examination series.

If you want the results to be sent to the host centre, the entering centre would need to withdraw the entry so the new centre can submit a new entry.

Only timetabled exams can be transferred; non-examined components such as non-exam assessment, controlled assessments, coursework and practical assessments are excluded from these arrangements.

We charge an administrative fee for the transfer of each candidate. Details can be found in the fees list.

Any administrative fees charged by the host centre are the responsibility of the entering centre.

How to arrange a candidate transfer

  1. Access the Centre Admin Portal (CAP): log in to Interchange, hover over ‘Access arrangements’ and then click on ‘Access arrangements’ again in the left-hand menu.
  2. Check the transfer is allowed by referring to the JCQ Guidance Notes Concerning Transferred Candidates, available from the CAP.
  3. The entering centre completes and submits stage 1 of the CAP online form.
  4. An email is sent to the host centre. The host centre then completes stage 2 of the CAP online form by the relevant deadline (see key dates and deadlines).

What happens next?

  1. We’ll email both the entering and host centres to tell you whether the transfer is accepted or declined.
  2. Then we’ll upload question papers, stationery and other essential materials for the host centre to Interchange.
  3. Where necessary, arrangements must be made between the two centres to complete any internal assessments and the associated marks must be submitted to OCR with the entering centre’s marks.
  4. For examinations, the entering centre completes the attendance register to show the candidate has transferred to another centre by writing ‘Transferred to/T [centre number]’ next to the candidate name. Please leave both the ‘Absent’ and ‘Present’ boxes blank as this can lead to a delay in issuing the candidate’s results.
  5. Lastly, results and certificates will be sent to the entering centre.

Further instructions on transferring candidates can be found in the JCQ’s Guidance Notes - Transferred Candidates.
