In July 2024, the government commissioned Professor Becky Francis CBE to convene and chair a panel of experts to review the existing national curriculum and assessment system in England.
Their aim was to ensure the curriculum and assessment system is fit for purpose and prepares students for life and work.
Following an interim report published in March 2025, the government has now published its final report.
Included in the report are a number of Cambridge OCR's recommendations to improve education for students and teachers, including:
- a reduction in GCSE exams
- a more relevant national curriculum, including topics like digital literacy and oracy
- reforms to English and maths.
