Our offer for GCSE (9-1) Media Studies
The set media products are grouped into four manageable topic areas supporting teachers with covering specification content and making for more approachable assessments for students.
A straightforward approach to the assessment of the nine media forms. The media forms are spread in a balanced way across the two exam papers, with each media form being assessed through one specific section of the exam.
Consistent exam structure, with two equally weighted exams. The weighting of marks and assessment objectives and the number of questions in each exam section are consistent across each exam series.
A consistent approach to the media forms and requirements for the NEA. NEA briefs always include four options covering the same media forms each series, this allows centres to approach the approach the NEA with confidence each year. All of the marks for the NEA are focused on students’ productions.
A range of engaging set media products. For several media forms centres can select the editions of the set products they will study with their students. This gives greater freedom to teachers and helps keep delivery of the course relevant and engaging.
A wide range of support for teaching and assessment. Delivery guides, learner activities and factsheets are available to support teaching, accompanied by extensive assessment resources including practice papers, examiner and moderator reports, candidate exemplars, and a free e-learning course to support marking of the NEA. Subject specialist support for teachers is available from our subject advisor.
