Assessment overview
There is one component (Religion, philosophy and ethics in the modern world) examined in a single paper with three sections:
Students must complete all sections of the paper to be awarded the OCR GCSE (9-1) in Religious Studies (Short Course).
Content overview
Section A: Beliefs and teachings
Students study the beliefs and teachings of two of the following major world religions:
- Christianity
- Islam
- Judaism.
Section B: Relationships and families
In section B students will approach the study of religion, philosophy and ethics in the modern world through a study of the theme ‘relationships and families’. Students study different philosophical and ethical arguments and their impact and influence in the modern world from the perspective of one of the religions they studied in section A.
Section C: Dialogue between religious and non-religious beliefs and attitudes
In section C students will approach the study of religion, philosophy and ethics in the modern world through a study of the theme ‘dialogue between religious and non-religious beliefs and attitudes’. Students study different philosophical and ethical arguments and their impact and influence in the modern world from the perspective of one of the religions they studied in section A.
