Increased funding for high value courses for 18 and 19 year olds 17 July 2020

The government has pledged additional funding for courses in selected subjects for 18 and 19 year olds.

The funding for one-year only is to encourage and support the delivery of selected Level 2 and 3 qualifications to support young people’s employment prospects in specific sectors following the coronavirus pandemic.

The Education Skills Funding Agency (ESFA) will administer funding for the selected list of “high value” qualifications, identified as relevant to higher wage returns and economic growth opportunities, from 1 September 2020. Please see the list of available OCR qualifications.

This additional funding for high value courses follows a funding uplift announcement earlier this year for 16 to 18 year olds studying selected Level 3 qualifications that are “crucial for the labour market”.
