New inquiry: impacts of coronavirus on the education sector 27 March 2020

The Education Select Committee has launched a new inquiry into the impact of Covid-19 on education and children’s services.

The inquiry will look at how the outbreak of Covid-19 is affecting all aspects of education and will scrutinise how the DfE is dealing with the situation.

It will examine both the short term impacts, such as the effects of school closures and exam cancellations - including the fairness of qualifications awarded and pupils’ progression to the next stages of education or employment - as well as longer-term implications, particularly for the most vulnerable children.

The deadline for written submissions is 31 May 2020.
