The government has announced a pause and review of planned reforms to post-16 vocational qualifications, meaning all of OCR’s Cambridge Technicals are funded for September 2024, and can continue to be taught with confidence.

This includes the Level 3 Cambridge Technicals in IT (720GLH and 1080GLH) that were previously due to be defunded, but are now available to be taught in September 2024.

This pause is intended to provide space for a review of post-16 qualifications at Level 3 and below, and the government aims to report on this review before the end of this year, according to the Department for Education announcement.

We’re pleased that the government has acknowledged the urgent need for clarity around these qualifications. This review must take on board the views of schools, colleges, and students and we look forward to supporting this process.

For now, there is no confirmation on the funding of qualifications from September 2025 onwards, and this is something we will be seeking on behalf of schools and colleges. We will keep schools and colleges updated on the outcome of the review into the funding of qualifications from 2025 as soon as we know more.
