New resources for 2016 GCSEs and A Levels 23 February 2015

To support teachers preparing for new GCSEs and A Levels, OCR is today launching a sample of its new teaching and learning resources for the qualifications to be taught in classrooms from 2016 onwards.

This sample range - one resource per new qualification - gives teachers a taster of the full range that will be available leading up to first teaching. OCR resources are divided into four main elements:

      • Delivery guides – pinpointing student misconceptions
      • Transition guides – how a topic is covered at different key stages
      • Topic exploration packs – guidance on approaches and creative activities for teaching a particular topic
      • Lesson elements – creative classroom activities written by education experts.

From KS3 - KS4 transition guides for GCSE Music to topic exploration packs for GCSE RS, the innovative new resources incorporate approaches favoured by teachers on OCR’s own subject forums and in research OCR commissioned from its parent, Cambridge Assessment.

Tailored to the needs of each subject and with a focus on supporting creative teaching and progression, the resources are intended as a body of knowledge that will grow throughout the lifetime of the specifications.

During 2014, OCR created over 180 new resources to support teachers preparing for the 2015 qualifications and here are some examples of the positive feedback received on these:

“I am particularly impressed with the transition guide - as a sixth form we sometimes struggle analysing the students’ progress versus their grades for GCSE, which can be very varied.”

“The social media resources for A Level Sociology are great. Good concise info and good exercises.”

Get ahead by taking a look at OCR’s new resources for 2016.
