Students celebrate Cambridge National and GCSE achievements
20 August 2026
Hundreds of thousands of students across England are receiving their GCSE and Cambridge Nationals qualification results today. Cambridge OCR has issued 490,000 results to almost 400,000 students in subjects ranging from engineering to business studies.
In a video message to students, Myles McGinley, Managing Director of Cambridge OCR, said: "Congratulations to each and every one of you on receiving your GCSE, Cambridge Nationals, and other Level 2 results today. You should feel really proud about what you have achieved, and all of the hard work, focus and resilience that has brought you to this point.
“Results day is an exciting milestone that you will always remember. But this is not the end of your journey: the qualifications you have received today will unlock so many potential doors for you, whatever you decide to do next.”
“Technical awards are rigorous and rewarding”
Though sometimes overshadowed by GCSEs, thousands of students around the country will be celebrating their vocational qualifications like Cambridge Nationals today. Vocational education from 14-16 is a priority of the new government and Cambridge OCR has called for greater access to the many benefits that it can bring to all students.
Myles McGinley said: “Thousands of learners will today be achieving their vocational qualifications like Cambridge Nationals. As these students will attest, these technical awards are rigorous and rewarding but without limiting learners to a specific pathway too early. They can provide an extra dimension to every 16-year-old’s education, are well trusted by teachers and provide skills valued by employers. They should be at the heart of any reforms to technical education for this age group.”
