Why choose us?
Our offer for GCSE (9-1) English Language
Mirrored assessment structure across our papers. Our component 01 and component 02 papers are the same length and carry the same number of marks, to reduce the cognitive load on students in preparing for exams.
Choice for students. In the writing section of both exam papers there will always be a choice of tasks, enabling students to make appropriate decisions for their level and interests.
More time. We offer more time across both papers to compensate for the reading burden, and to give adequate preparation time.
Accessibility is key when writing our GCSE English Language (9-1) papers. Scaffolding bullet points remain on both papers regardless of increase in challenge. Assessment objectives are assessed in order, to give graduated structure to papers, making them more accessible to all students.
Assessment objectives are used to support students. Emphasis on AO2 and AO4 is more enabling. Students are more rewarded for their insight into a text through evaluation and analysis than for the explicit skills of comparison.
We offer plenty of support. Practice papers, mark schemes and candidate exemplars, as well as resources for teaching and learning are all available on Teach Cambridge. We also offer subject specialist support to all centres via our subject advisor team.
