Certificate in Applied History Level 1/2
01 December 2015
Withdrawal of Certificate in Applied History Level 1/2 (J948) (600/4408/1)
OCR’s Level 1/2 Certificate in Applied History (J948) is being withdrawn from 31 August 2017. After careful consideration, we have taken the difficult decision to withdraw this qualification because, following government reform to qualifications, it will not be included in performance tables from 2017 onwards. As this qualification cannot be included in performance tables, it will also not attract funding.
The last assessment (first time entries) for the Level 1/2 Certificate in Applied History (J948) will be in June 2017.
The following resit opportunities will be available in 2018:
- In January 2018, a resit option will be available for Units B952, B953, B954, B955, B956, B957, B958, B959, B960
- In June 2018, a resit option will be available for Units B951, B952, B953, B954, B955, B956, B957, B958, B959, B960.
Candidates must have taken the Unit(s) they plan to resit prior to January 2018.
We will continue to support and assess the qualification up to the conclusion of the final assessment series with resources such as Examiner Reports.
We realise that the withdrawal of this qualification will be disappointing news for centres who currently offer the Certificate in Applied History. However, we plan to use some of the content and assessments from this qualification to form additional resources to support at key stage 3. We will be releasing a plan of these resources, together with a sample resource, in our December History newsletter. You can sign up for the History newsletter via our website.
