01 June 2016
Course end dates and resit information for GCSE Additional Applied Science and Environmental and Land-Based Science (J251, J271)
OCR’s GCSE Additional Applied Science and Environmental and Land-Based Science qualifications are changing as part of the government reform of general qualifications.
We will continue to support and assess the qualifications up to the conclusion of the final assessment series, as follows:
GCSE Additional Applied Science
New reformed GCSE (9-1) qualifications in Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Combined Science will be available for first teaching from September 2016. Ofqual decided that GCSE Additional Applied Science would be withdrawn, due to similar and overlapping content with the new reformed science qualifications. The final assessment opportunity will be the summer 2017 series.
GCSE Environmental and Land-Based Science
Additionally, due to the redeveloped science GCSE (9-1) qualifications available for first teaching from September 2016, Ofqual also decided that GCSE Environmental and Land-Based Science would be withdrawn. This is also due to similar and overlapping content with the new reformed science qualifications. The final assessment opportunity will be the summer 2018 series.
For further information on deadlines for submitting entries, entry amendments/withdrawals and the submission of marks for internal assessment please see the administration web pages. We will continue to support and assess the current qualifications up to the conclusion of the final assessment series with resources such as Examiner Reports.
