AS Quantitative Methods (MEI) and Level 3 in Certificate in Quantitative Methods (MEI)
30 November 2016
Important changes to the provision of AS Quantitative Methods (MEI) and Level 3 in Certificate in Quantitative Methods (MEI)
We are currently reforming our AS and A Levels in line with the government programme of general qualification reform, and as a result our post-16 Maths provision is changing. As part of these changes, we will not be redeveloping AS Quantitative Methods (MEI) and the Level 3 Certificate in Quantitative Methods (MEI).
We offer as broad a range of qualifications to support teachers and candidates as possible. However, on-going reform by government and the exams regulator and low levels of uptake mean these qualifications will no longer be available through OCR following the final assessment series in June 2018 and resit series in June 2019. However, alternative qualifications are available in the form of our Core Maths Level 3 Certificates in Quantitative Problem Solving (H867) and Quantitative Reasoning (H866), as well as our Extended Project Qualification (EPQ) (H856).
We will of course continue to support and assess AS Quantitative Methods (MEI) and the Level 3 Certificate in Quantitative Methods (MEI) up to the conclusion of the final assessment series.

*To find out more about resit rules for legacy AS and A Level qualifications please see the legacy AS/A Level entry rules page on the OCR website.
Our Core Maths Level 3 Certificates in Quantitative Problem Solving (H867) and Quantitative Reasoning (H866) are designed to support post-16 learners with the mathematical and statistical needs of their further study of other subjects, as well as for employment and everyday life. These qualifications are supported by a large resource package available from MEI.
For centres looking for an alternative course to the AS Level in Quantitative Methods (MEI) qualification, we would also recommend our Extended Project Qualification (EPQ) (H856). Our EPQ can provide your students with the skills that universities look for, to help them stand out from the crowd. The EPQ gives students the freedom to develop their mathematical skills in utilising the problem solving frameworks for modelling, statistics or finance to undertake a genuine real life activity.
