Improvements to mark schemes for AS and A Level Law 28 April 2026

Following feedback from centres, we are updating the format of our mark schemes for AS and A Level Law (H018/H418).

You will see these changes from the June 2026 series.

The updated mark schemes will include a revised layout designed to make marking guidance clearer and easier to use. This includes:

      • a dedicated guidance column for every question, providing clearer information on how marks are awarded
      • clearer indicators of what is likely to constitute a response for different levels
      • additional notes, where appropriate, highlighting what represents a higher‑quality response.

These changes improve clarity only; there are no changes to the approach to marking.

We're making these improvements to our AS and A Level Law mark schemes to support clearer teaching, more effective student preparation, and greater consistency and confidence in marking.

The June 2026 mark schemes will be available to centres from candidate results day via our secure Teach Cambridge website.

If you have any queries about this update, please call our Customer Support Centre on 01223 553998 or email us at law@ocr.org.uk.
