Important changes to Unit R105 for first teaching September 2020

We’ve made some changes to the content of Unit R015: Design briefs, design specifications and user requirements. This is a mandatory, externally assessed unit in the following qualifications:

The revised content will be implemented for first teach in September 2020, and for first assessment in January 2021.

As a result of feedback received, we’ve made these changes covering each of the Learning Outcomes (LOs) in the unit because we were told that:

• some of the terminology and related content was out-of-date making it difficult to deliver
• the organisation of the content across the LOs needed some improvement, to offer better grouping of related subject areas.
• some of the LOs were not clear in specifying the level of detail required when candidates respond to exam questions, specifically those areas where a direct question may be asked (signified by an i.e in the content).

You’ll note there are no significant changes to what candidates must learn, rather how we have expressed ourselves in the specification to offer you clarity.
