GCSE Home Economics: Child Development
06 March 2017
Reminder on Transition to Cambridge National in Child Development
Following our previous notices in 2015, we would like to remind you that as a result of decisions by Ofqual regarding GCSE reform, GCSE Home Economics: Child Development is to be discontinued after its final assessment in June 2018. The qualification details are as follows:
Entry code | Qualification title | Qualification number | Final assessment opportunity | Resit opportunity |
---|
J441 | GCSE Home Economics: Child Development | 500/4409/6 | June 2018 | N/A |
However, to ensure continued provision for learners in this subject OCR have developed a new Cambridge National Level 1/2 Certificate in Child Development to replace the GCSE. There are many similarities between the two qualifications that will make the transition as comfortable as possible for both students and teachers.
Current Year 10 students will be the last cohort able to be assessed in the GCSE, therefore all new Key Stage 4 groups from September 2017 should only be taught the new Cambridge National qualification.
