Changes to school performance measures for FMSQ Foundations of Advanced Mathematics (6989)

Progress 8 and Attainment 8 are managed by the Department for Education (DfE) and latest information on new performance measures is published in their 'Progress 8 measure in 2016, 2017 and 2018' document.

Our Level 2 Free Standing Maths Qualification (FMSQ) Foundations of Advanced Mathematics (MEI) (6989) does not count towards Progress 8.

Please note: the document states on page 10 that 'Level 3 Free Standing Mathematics Qualifications will only count in a slot in the ‘open’ element, and will only count if a pupil has not taken an EBacc mathematics qualification'. Although this means the Foundations of Advanced Mathematics (MEI) qualification will not count towards school performance tables under the new performance measures, the benefit of studying the qualification should be seen in elevated student GCSE maths performance (which is double weighted in the Progress 8 measure), in addition to the student's preparation for taking post-16 qualifications.
