      GCSE Computer Science non-examination assessment

Ofqual has asked all the exam boards to impose additional controls and processes to support the management of non-exam assessment (NEA) in GCSE (9-1) Computer Science.

As explained previously, to ensure a consistent approach is taken across exam boards, OCR has been working with AQA, WJEC Eduqas and Pearson to design some common controls and processes, that will be implemented by all boards.

As part of this process, a further JCQ statement has been released, to be read by Heads of Centres and any person(s) who has access to, or the use of, J276 GCSE 9-1 GCSE Computer Science NEA tasks. It is a reminder of the responsibilities involved when undertaking the NEA.

We are currently aware of 3rd Parties trying to obtain the live NEA tasks, to then sell worked solutions and write ups and carry out training for teachers. These activities pose a direct risk to the validity of the task. We appreciate your vigilance in ensuring that, through best practice of staff and students, these tasks remain secure and valid for the assessment series.

OCR will continue to take action to monitor the security of the tasks to help ensure no candidate receives an unfair advantage.

If you have any queries about this notice please call our Customer Contact Centre on 01223 553998.
