Resits for 'legacy' GCSEs, AS and A Levels ending in 2016

The June 2016 series was the final assessment opportunity for several of OCR's ‘legacy’ GCSE, AS and A Level qualifications, which have been redeveloped as part of the government reform of general qualifications. Following the issuing of results, some students may now be looking to resit these qualifications and we would like to ensure you are aware of what qualifications are available to resit and when the resit opportunities are available.

GCSE Maths and English

All ‘legacy’ GCSE Maths and English qualifications had their final assessment opportunity in June 2016, but most are available to resit in November 2016 and June 2017 as laid out in the table below.

Please note: there are no resit opportunities available for English Literature (J360).

*Candidates wishing to resit Mathematics A (J562) after November 2016 are able to use the Mathematics B (J567) specification. 

If a student resits any of these qualifications, they will need to resit all the exams for that qualification. AS and A Levels

The following AS and A Level qualifications had their final assessment opportunity in June 2016 and are available to resit in June 2017:

*Centres that have offered the qualification before have a final assessment opportunity in June 2017, with a resit opportunity in June 2018. (The June 2016 final assessment opportunity and June 2017 resit opportunity applies to centres that did not previously offer this qualification.)

**For Northern Ireland centres, the final assessment opportunity for this qualification will be June 2017, with no resit opportunity. DENI requirements for AS/A Level sciences in Northern Ireland are different to requirements in England. Centres in Northern Ireland will need to transfer to the reformed CCEA specifications in these subjects.
