Introducing Arlo: simpler professional development 30 April 2026

Lee Wicker, Professional Development Service Delivery Manager

Lee Wicker

I’d like to share some updates to how you’ll access and manage Cambridge OCR professional development events from September 2026, and what you can expect from our new platform, Arlo.

Professional development is a key part of day-to-day teaching – whether you’re building subject knowledge, preparing for asssessment or sharing ideas with colleagues.

We know that finding and booking the right training needs to fit around a busy schedule. It should be clear, reliable and easy to manage. Arlo has been introduced to support this, with a more streamlined approach to booking and attending events.

Signing in with Teach Cambridge

Arlo uses single sign-on through your Teach Cambridge account.

This means you can access training using your existing login, without needing to set up or remember additional details. It’s designed to make getting started as straightforward as possible. If you don’t yet have access to Teach Cambridge, your exams officer will be able to help.

Joining a waitlist

If a course is fully booked, you’ll have the option to join a waitlist.

If a place becomes available, you’ll be notified so you can decide whether to take it. This helps you stay informed without needing to check availability yourself.

Taking part in sessions with Zoom

For Q&A events, we’re introducing Zoom as our delivery platform.

You’ll receive clear joining instructions with your booking, including a direct link to your session. Zoom also supports features such as live questions and discussion, making it easier to take part and engage during the session.

Finding and booking events

We’re updating the booking experience to make it easier to find relevant training.

You will be able to:

  • browse events through our website and Teach Cambridge
  • look for courses linked to your subject or role
  • book onto a session in a few simple steps.

The aim is to help you find what you need quickly, without unnecessary steps.

Staying informed before and after your session

Arlo allows us to share more consistent information throughout your booking. You’ll receive:

  • confirmation of your place
  • joining details ahead of the session
  • follow-up materials where available.

You can also check your bookings at any time using Teach Cambridge.

What happens next

Arlo will be used for events from September 2026 onwards.  At present, please continue to use the existing platform for booking your events.

We’ll continue to review feedback from teachers and make improvements over time, to make sure the experience works well in practice as well as in principle.

If you have any questions, our team is here to help.

Stay connected

If you have any questions on booking training, you can email us at professionaldevelopment@ocr.org.uk or call us on 01223 55399.

To keep up with news about your subject, sign up for subject emails including the latest news, updates and resources.

If you are considering teaching any of our qualifications, use our online form to let us know, so that we can help you with more information.
