Debbie Williams, Computer Science, IT and Creative iMedia Subject Advisor
Whether you are new to teaching our iMedia courses or are an established teacher there are events to support you this year. In this blog I’ll give a roundup of our events and courses for this academic year. You can book via our Teach Cambridge website, Train@OCR page or our Events page.
This is a mandatory course for all teachers delivering any of our Cambridge National courses. It is a free eLearning course designed to prepare and support you to deliver the new Cambridge Nationals suite NEA set assignments. As it covers all Cambridge Nationals, if you do teach more than one you only need to do this course once. It is ideal to do together as a team as part of a department meeting. It will give a good understanding of the course requirements and support consistency. It is available on demand from Teach Cambridge or Train@OCR.
This is our other free eLearning course specifically for the Creative iMedia qualification. It gives insight into the internal assessment and your responsibilities. It would be great to use within a department meeting just before starting the NEA tasks with students. It is available on demand on Teach Cambridge or OCR Train.
This is a free webinar which gives you everything you need to know to get started. It is aimed at teachers and non-specialist teachers. It is great if you are teaching this year as it will signpost you to resources as well as give you an overview of the course structure and assessment requirements.

These free webinars are held regularly throughout the year to give you an opportunity to ask questions of a moderator, one of the team of people who look at the sample work you send to us. It’s helpful to them if you send any questions beforehand to email@example.com, but it's also great to just join to listen to queries from other centres.

These free webinars give you an opportunity to ask an examiner questions around the R093 terminal exam. This year, these will focus on the preparation for the first exam series in January 2024 and the subsequent June 2024 series. I would attend these sessions to get to grips with how I was going to approach teaching and learning to prepare students for the exam. It’s helpful if you send any questions beforehand to firstname.lastname@example.org.

Alternatively, if you fancy hosting your own network meeting for you and centres local to you, with support from us, either in person or virtually, please email us at email@example.com or firstname.lastname@example.org.

This is another extended session. It gives you the opportunity to develop your skills in supporting students to succeed in the exam unit R093 and builds on the free courses we already offer. This CPD session uses candidate exemplars and practice papers to review topic areas. It would be great if you could get together with colleagues who also teach to attend together, or it could be something to share afterwards with others.
