Accessible assessments with no surprises. Our assessments are clear and consistent, making the development of exam skills easier for you and your students. Our focus on accessibility ensures a good exam experience for all students.

Flexible practical assessment. You can choose from our selection of suggested activities with accompanying resources, your own preferred practical activities, or a mixture of both. This means that you can use your existing practical activities from other awarding organisations when switching. You just need a minimum of 12 practicals to meet the common practical assessment criteria (CPAC) and techniques and apparatus for the practical endorsement.

Clear and manageable content. Our specification covers a range of topics to support all students towards their future study and careers, developing essential knowledge and understanding of different areas of geology and how they relate to each other. Our teaching modules and additional guidance ensure what you need to teach and what your students need to know is clear.

Developing geological literacy. Our specification emphasises the development of geological literacy, using relevant and contemporary settings to anchor conceptual knowledge.

Subject advisor support. It’s quick and easy to contact us for support, with knowledgeable subject advisors available to support you with switching and any queries you have while teaching the qualification. We offer free online and face-to-face network events throughout the year, alongside low-cost professional development.

Resources and blogs to support you. We have a range of resources to support you with planning, teaching and assessment through Teach Cambridge, our secure website. These include a scheme of work, practical endorsement trackers and teaching guides. Subject advisors and other guest authors also write regular blogs to support you with common queries and challenges.

Supporting diversity. We aim to ensure that equality, diversity, inclusion and belonging (EDIB) principles are part of everything we do. Our STEM contributors resource links the work of diverse scientists to the specification content.
