Supporting exams officers on results days 2026: GCSEs, AS and A Levels
23 June 2026
Alison Leather – Customer Support Manager for Berkshire and Oxfordshire
In this blog I’ll provide a summary of what’s available on the GCSE, AS and A Level results days, and how our results documents can support you.
When will results be issued?
Results will be issued to centres at 12.01am on the following dates (restricted release):
- 12 August: AS and A Level, Core Maths, Extended Project and FSMQ
- 19 August: GCSE and Entry Level
You can issue results to students from 8am on results days (the day after restricted release).
Until then, results must remain confidential to the head of centre, exams office staff and senior members of teaching staff, whether within the centre itself, or across a consortium or multi-academy trust. You must also not share results data or grade boundaries more widely until after students have received their results.
You can only release results to local authorities or the media from 9.30am on results days. See the JCQ release of results guidance for further details.
If you need to contact us on the restricted release or candidate results days, our Customer Support Centre lines will be open between 7.30am and 5pm on 01223 553998.
Remember to stay alert to phishing attacks and scam attempts throughout the results period!
Accessing Interchange
Before the results period begins, make sure you can access Interchange successfully. You can log in via our single sign-on service, My Cambridge.
We use two-factor authentication (2FA) for Interchange. If you’ve not already set this up, see the instructions on our website and our short video.
If you've changed your phone or tablet, you will need to pair your new device with your My Cambridge account – see our FAQ.
Results files
We will be issuing EDI and XML results files as usual just after midnight on restricted results release. At the same time, as a contingency measure, results files are also available via Interchange.
To download the results files via the A2C Transport application, you’ll need to make sure you have the latest version of our basedata (6a26 version 2 published on 5 January 2026 and 6b26 version 2 published on 10 March 2026). Remember to check for any product updates or releases from your MIS supplier too.
Downloading the basedata again will not affect any data already sent to us and will not affect the issue of your results.
XML results files
In addition to qualification marks and grades, XML results files also contain component marks for linear qualifications such as GCSEs, AS and A Levels.
XML results files are issued via A2C at the same time as your EDI files and can be imported into your management information system (MIS). This will allow you to use this data to produce more in-depth analysis and reports for students, teachers and other stakeholders.
How to import the files will depend on your supplier’s implementation. You can contact your MIS supplier for more details.
Updated results files via Interchange
Once results are issued, we publish updated results files on Interchange each Monday until the end of the post-results period. To access these files, log in to Interchange, hover over ‘Results’ in the left-hand menu and then click on ‘XML/EDI results’.
But remember, if you want to use these files, please be aware that they’ll overwrite any manual changes you’ve made to your system.
Interchange results reports
As well as the results data, there are a range of results reports available for you to download via Interchange from 12.01am on restricted results day.
To access these reports, log in to Interchange, hover over ‘Results’ and select ‘Results documents’.
Reporting on component results
If you need to report on component results for GCSEs and A Levels, we know this can sometimes be challenging on busy results days, but there are a few reports in Interchange that can make this much easier.
For example, for a clear, student-friendly view of results that shows the qualification grade, overall qualification mark, and raw and weighted component marks, you can generate the candidate statement of marks (PDF and CSV). You can run this for individual candidates, a range or the whole cohort and it updates automatically if results change. You can share these example A Level and GCSE reports with students to help explain their results.
If you want a report that shows more detail, the results and grade boundaries report (PDF and CSV ) shows the qualification grade, overall qualification mark and component marks for each subject. The PDF version also includes weighting factors, a results summary and grade boundaries. This report updates daily until the post-results deadline and, if sorted by candidate, it gives you a clear picture of performance at component level.
Here's a quick reminder of how marks appear in these reports. For moderated components, the 'raw marks' shown in both the statement of marks and the results and grade boundaries report already include any scaling applied during moderation. For all components, the 'raw marks' in the statement of marks also include any special consideration adjustments. These adjustments are not included in the results and grade boundaries report.
Reporting on special consideration applications
To help you respond quickly to any special consideration queries, or for your own internal checks, you can generate the special consideration report (CSV). It shows where special consideration has been applied, including the tariff and marks awarded, and highlights results that have been calculated due to absence. There’s no requirement for you to share this information with your students.
You can view examples and more details about all the results reports on our website.
Grade boundary information
For GCSEs and A Levels, grade boundaries are set at qualification level, as these are linear qualifications. To help show how each component contributes to the overall qualification grade, we also publish ‘notional’ boundaries at component level.
If you need a refresher, our GCSE and A Level factsheets explain how grade boundaries work and how results are calculated.
You can view grade boundaries on restricted release days within the results and grade boundaries report via Interchange.
For AS and A Level History and AS and A Level Further Maths, you can view the grade boundary information within the cumulative specification results report, available via Interchange on 12 August 2026.
We publish grade boundaries on the Cambridge OCR website at 8am on candidate results days. Remember, you must not share grade boundary information with students or more widely until 8am on results days.
Active Results
For some centres, teachers like to access results data using our free results analysis service, Active Results. The June 2026 data will be available from 8am on the candidate results results days.
Before the results days, it’s a good idea to make sure teachers have the correct access. Active Results is available via Interchange and users will need the tutor/teacher role.
We hope the results days run smoothly for you, your colleagues and your students.
