In March 2019, the Department for Education (DfE) announced funding in England, for the majority of our Level 3 Cambridge Technicals 2012 suite, will be withdrawn from 1 August 2020. Any students enrolled on these qualifications before 1 August 2020 will still continue to be funded through to completion. The 2016 Cambridge Technicals suite is not affected by this announcement.
The funding announcement, which is part of a larger review of post-16 vocational qualifications in England, affects qualifications offered by all exam boards.
Our priority is to support everyone to continue teaching Cambridge Technicals successfully. We’ll keep you fully informed of any changes you need to make in plenty of time. We’re still finalising the full list of our 2012 qualifications affected with the DfE and we expect to be able to confirm this with you in July.
To support everyone teaching – or considering teaching – 2012 or 2016 Cambridge Technicals, we’re running special events this summer:
Sessions will include the 2012 funding changes, making the switch to 2016 Cambridge Technicals and the implications of the larger review of all post-16 vocational qualifications (which includes our 2016 suite). You can book onto these events now.
We will also be offering teachers a range of training and support events in a variety of formats over the next 18 months to suit your needs.
*The Level 3 Cambridge Technicals in Art and Design are also not affected by this announcement as they do not have a 2016 suite alternative.
