Digital Employability, Life and Living Skills and Using ICT 03 June 2021

This update was originally published on 23 April 2021. We've now provided details on how you can record evidence. Please see the Recording your unit TAG decisions and quality assurance section below.

      Teacher assessed grades guidance

Further to our vocational qualifications arrangements for 2021 update, when assessment cannot be completed, a unit-level Teacher Assessed Grade (TAG) is available for units due to be completed between 1 August 2020 and 31 August 2021.

Unit-level TAGs are available to learners certificating this summer and those who are part way through their qualification but who planned to take assessment for some units by 31 August 2021.

Exams and moderation will continue to be available. Centres should continue to deliver teaching and learning for as long as possible, to cover as much of the qualification content as possible since it is important for progression.

We encourage you to continue to complete and submit assessments, considering a TAG as a last resort when assessment cannot be completed.

Please see our guidance on teacher assessed grades for information on eligibility and how to determine your grades.

      Submitting teacher assessed grades

We've provided guidance on the process of how to submit teacher assessed grades for the following qualifications:

      • Digital Employability (Entry Level and Level 1)
      • Life and Living Skills
      • Using ICT (Entry 3)

To request teacher assessed grades you will need to complete the following forms:

      • Digital Employability (Entry Level and Level 1) TAG request form
      • Life and Living Skills TAG request form
      • Using ICT (Entry 3) TAG request form

You can make more than one request for teacher assessed grades as the situation for individual students develops. Your final requests should be made by 15 September 2021.

Recording your unit TAG decisions and quality assurance

If we ask you to submit work for external quality assurance you must provide us with information on:

      • the types of evidence used to determine the TAG (types are listed in the guidance and above)
      • for banked evidence, the other units used to determine the TAG
      • if evidence was produced under supervision
      • if the learner usually has reasonable adjustments and if they were applied in the evidence used
      • when the latest evidence used to determine the TAG was produced.

You may record how you evidenced teacher assessed grades using the form below:

      • Unit teacher assessed grades recording sheet

Alternatively, you can use your own form suitable for your centre. Your form must be in a format that can be reviewed by others and be able to be supplied to OCR in an electronic format (or be able to be supplied as a scanned copy of a paper document) on request.

If you have any queries, please call our Customer Support Centre on 01223 553998 or email us at support@ocr.org.uk.
