A Level Sociology
30 November 2016
The specification for A Level Sociology (H580) has been amended
We have amended key question 2 of component 3, section A (Globalisation and the digital social world) of the A Level Sociology (H580) specification.
The 'Learners should' column on page 15 now reads:
'Consider people's identity and social inequalities in relation to:
Consider both the positive and negative impacts of digital forms of communication'.
This amended wording makes it clear that social class, gender and age should all be considered when looking at the impact of digital forms of communication on people's identities and social inequalities. This is not new content, but should clarify what we expect candidates to know.
The specification has been amended and is now available to download from the qualification page of the OCR website. Please ensure you are using the correct version.
We will also be releasing a second set of practice papers via Interchange and the component 3 paper will include a question which demonstrates this approach. The component 3 paper will be made available at the end of December.
Chapter 1 of the OCR-endorsed Hodder Sociology 2 textbook also includes content relating to this area of the specification.
