Withdrawal of AS/A Level Applied Sciences (H175, H375, H575, H775)
OCR’s AS and A Level Applied Science qualifications are being withdrawn in June 2018. This is part of the government reform of general qualifications. The AS and A Level Applied Sciences are being withdrawn due to similar and overlapping content to the new reformed separate AS and A Level qualifications in Biology, Chemistry and Physics. The final assessment opportunity will be the June 2018 series. We will continue to support and assess these qualifications up to the conclusion of the final assessment series, as shown below.

For centres looking for an alternative course to replace the GCE Applied Science qualifications, we would recommend our new Level 3 Cambridge Technicals in Laboratory Skills. These qualifications were launched for first teaching in September 2016 and will allow your students to achieve their potential and progress to the next stage of their education, whether it be Higher Education, an apprenticeship, or employment. With a wide range of centre-assessed units with practical and wider project-based assessment opportunities, as well as examined units, dependent on the size chosen, this qualification can either complement a Key Stage 5 study programme alongside other vocational qualifications, A Levels, or may constitute the bulk of a two-year study programme.
