What training is available for Cambridge Technicals in IT? 21 October 2022

Whether you are new to teaching our IT courses or an established teacher there is a CPD course to support you this year. In this blog I’ll give a roundup of our offerings, all of which you can book via our Teach Cambridge website, Train@OCR page or

Choosing OCR

If you are thinking of starting to teach the Level 3 course our free webinar provides you with everything you need to know. It’s aimed at teachers and non-specialist teachers and gives you an overview of the specification.

Ask the Moderator

These Level 2 and Level 3 webinars are free and held regularly throughout the year giving you the opportunity to question the moderator, one of the team of people who look at the sample work you send to us.

It’s helpful if you send your questions in advance to vocational.qualifications@ocr.org.uk but it’s also great to just join to listen to queries from other school and colleges.

Preparing for the exam 

This is an opportunity to develop your skills in supporting students to succeed in the exam (units 1 and 2). As these are two and a half hour sessions, there is time for a hands-on approach looking at where you can focus your teaching to support students to progress through the grades.

Exam feedback and analysis 

These free webinars provide you with an opportunity to reflect on the 2022 exam series. This is a great way to unpick the exam and look at misconceptions to better support your future cohorts.

About the author

Debbie joined the Computing team in September 2022, bringing her knowledge as a teacher and subject leader for IT, Computing and Creative Media. She has over 20 years’ experience of education working in various settings including state schools, private specialist provision, local authority, and as a marker and moderator for exam boards. She has a degree in Technology Management, a PGCE and a Masters in Teaching and Learning.
